Three local organisations were the beneficiaries of the recent Neven Maguire Cookery demonstration in Ballon, sponsored by Flogas and organised by Mary Jordan, owner of the Forge Restaurant, to highlight its 10th anniversary. On Wed 27 July at the restaurant, Ballon Community Centre and Tullow Day Centre were presented with €2,800 each while €500 went to the Ballon Improvement Group and the Community Garden.
Mary Jordan said, “All three organisations were absolutely delighted to receive these much-needed funds and our thanks to Flogas for their generous sponsorship of the event. Neven was a great attraction and his personality and performance turned the fundraising event turned into a really good social night and a wonderful way to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Forge Restaurant. What made this event that bit different was the very strong local theme, in that all the recipes showcased on the night featured local produce and it was local community organisations that benefited from it.”
“The policy of the Forge Restaurant has always been to keep our suppliers local wherever possible – food tourism is the way forward at present and we will be continuing our support for the foreseeable future,” Mary Jordan continued.
