Flogas steps on the Gas for LILAC Cancer Support
Flogas and Cookstown Hollywood Fitness jointly stepped on the gas to help the LILAC Cancer Support charity buy and fuel a brand-new car to drive cancer patients to hospital. Flogas has converted the charity’s new Toyota Avensis, bought with £17,500 raised by the Hollywood Fitness staff, to Autogas. Flogas is also covering the running costs of the car, which will be used to transport patients to hospitals for appointments and treatment.

LILAC is a local charity in mid-Ulster, established in 2003, with the motto ‘Life is for Living After Cancer’. It is committed to ensuring that people affected by cancer in mid-Ulster have access to high quality support services, and this includes patient transport to complement the existing services provided by the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service.
Margaret Campbell of LILAC Cancer Support said, “We are so touched and delighted with the kindness and generosity shown by Hollywood Fitness and Flogas. We’re a small charity that is totally dependent upon the support of local businesses and the public and our new car will provide vital additional support to patients in mid-Ulster.”
Martin Loughran, area sales executive for Flogas, said, “Converting the new LILAC to Autogas was the ideal solution for the charity as it’s a clean, green fuel that is up to 50% cheaper than petrol. Autogas fuelled cars have the same levels of performance and reliability as a petrol or diesel car but their greatly reduced carbon dioxide emissions make them far more environmentally friendly. It’s a win-win situation all round.”
