A rainy day didn’t prevent Flogas and Inver Colpa Rowing Club from ‘rowing together’ to celebrate the news that Flogas is sponsoring the training and competition kit for the club for the 2017 season. Dessie McDonald, chairperson of Inver Colpa Rowing Club, said, "We would like to thank Flogas very much for their support, it means a lot to the club to have them on board."
Inver Colpa Rowing Club also had more good news to celebrate as the club has now secured a piece of land on which to design and build its long-awaited boathouse close to the Flogas Marsh Road Terminal. At present, their boats have been stored by the Boyne Fishermens’ Rescue and Recovery Service, who have been a great support to the club.
Dessie said "Drogheda has a long tradition of rowing, the Drogheda Rowing Club was one of the most popular in Ireland in the 1940s and 1950s, so we want bring more use of the river back to the town, to encourage people to recapture the enjoyment that rowing and boating on the Boyne can bring. There’s been talk about a floating pontoon to be sited near Scotch Hall and if it came to pass, it would allow for even greater access to the river, which would be a great boost."
Eoin O’Flynn, marketing manager, Flogas Ireland, said “We are long-time supporters of the Club and we are delighted that they now will have their own boathouse close to the Flogas Marsh Road terminal. We wish them the very best of luck for the 2017 season.”
