At the Hennessy Gold Cup Day in Leopardstown on Saturday 8th February 2015, Apache Stronghold, ridden by legendary jockey Paul Carberry, won the inaugural Grade 1 Flogas Novice Chase. In the rear early on as Tony McCoy and Jarry D'Honneur set the pace, Apache Stronghold only came into the race at the business end, swooping last minute to deny the top prize from hot favourite Valseur Lido owned by Michael O’Leary’s Gigginstown House Stud.
John Rooney, managing director, Flogas Ireland, was on hand to congratulate and present the winning trophy to the owners. John said, “It was an excellent day for racing, there was a fantastic atmosphere and Flogas is delighted to be part of such a great sporting occasion.”
